My husband is a Surface Warfare Officer/overall good guy- I am a student/menial task performer/mad recipe scientist/photographer/etc.. Together we have three children cats. This blog chronicles our marriage, families (Hi Mom and Dad!), time with the military, and all the triumphs ( and sometimes let downs) life presents us with.

I liked your Q&A post about OCS, thanks for writing that. I will be the spouse at OCS while my husband is at home, taking care of our cats :) You didn’t say much about it, but what about letters? I assume your DH didn’t have much time to write them, but you did send them. I have been a letter writer in the past and if possible I would do that to communicate during the first 5wks or so.
First, congratulations and good luck in OCS.
As for letters: You will probably have little to no time to write in the first five weeks. IC phase is the worst. If I remember correctly, you’re not allowed to sit at your desk so writing is difficult. You’ll also be sleep deprived, under stress, and they give you very little time to do anything.
My husband was able to send maybe 6 letters (more email towards the end). I’d let your husband know you probably won’t be able to write, but you’d really appreciate if he kept writing you. I wrote my husband everyday and he appreciated hearing from home. You may want to suggest he join the facebook group for your class for family members (usually it’s ‘friends and family members of class xx-xx)- it’s a way for him to get some information while you’re gone.
Again good luck and if you have any other questions let me know !
